This lecture provides a general overview of the evaluation and intervention of sick neonatal and pediatric patients with emphasis on review of the physiologic differences between neonatal, pediatric, and adult canines and felines. History collection, physical examination, and sample collection techniques are discussed. Normal vital parameters, laboratory reference ranges, fluid therapy and nutritional calculations are introduced in conjunction with diet selection and feeding methods.
